Re: Koss plug + etymotic ear buds = excellent

I see the seller also offers the Sony MDR-EX51LP earbuds for a little
more $$. They're quite neutral sounding. I also own the Etymotic
ER-4P's but at around $300, they cost too much to withstand abuse in
the gym. I'd say the Sony's sound 75% as good as the Etymotics (with
the included Sony ear tips) which makes them quite a bargain. I
decided to order the Sony/Etymtotic combo and i'm expecting nice
results. Btw, he offers the ear tips alone for cheaper, but at $35, I
can afford a back-up pair of headphones.

some guy on ebay is selling the koss plug with imitation etymotic ear
buds for 20 bucks. I bought them with very little expectations, but
have been amazed by them. First the sound quality of the koss plugs is
excellent. i have no idea how a $15 headphone can produce such
fidelity. my previous headphone was grado sr-60 for comparison

second the plugs this guy has made work great. they seal out noise well
and work great in noisy subways, airplanes etc. they fit nicely in my
ear .

i spent nearly a month researching a hi quality noise cancelling
headphone. all had their problems, but for the price this one wins
hands down.

i encourage others to check it out.

Koss The Plug" earphones are not a distinct device, but a family of devices
that have been morphing for several years. The last time I tried them, they
had great bass, but fell on their face above about 3 KHz. This happens to
coincide with many reviews of the devices over the year.

Any IEM is profoundly affected, primarily in the bass range, by how they fit
the listener's ear canal. While balanced bass can help lots of things, there
is no way for conventional mass-produced flexible tips to put back in treble
that was never there.

OTOH, for $20 it is hard to lose much by purchasing a set of Koss "The Plug"
IEMs. Good starter pieces.
