Re: Goddammit, where are my $(*% royalties?

Well, I certainly am not in the same widely read class as, say, the people who write articles for Sound & Vision, or possibly even some of the Stereophile crowd. And I certainly did not get paid like some of that group did or still do. No doubt, I was anything but a runaway success (financially or in terms of overall impact) as an audio writer. I never appealed to the tweako contingent (who often, in addition to spending big on hardware, will spend plenty for printed copy written by tweako reviewers and commentators) and most of those who had their own brass-tacks and skeptical approach to the hobby (and were in agreement with me much of the time) were not inclined to spend money on magazine subscriptions or book purchases. They'd rather spend their cash for hardware or recordings.

I am convinced now that the only people involved with the hobby who are willing to spend money on published opinions (books or magazines) are goofballs, and goofballs do not want to read skeptical and penny pinching articles by people like me. They want poetic descriptions of sound quality and support for inane beliefs.

As for John, I certainly hope I am never mistaken for him or for my approach to audio paralleling his. Someday he may up and confess that wires (expensive and cheap) pretty much sound the same to him, and may even say the same thing about amps and CD players. I will not hold my breath, however.

By the way, George, I rarely reply to your usually petty and sophomoric comments, but this time you actually made it possible for me to offer up a straightforward response. You must be getting desperate.
