I have a Sansui AU-6500 I handed down to my kid.
It's a very transparent and neutral SS amp IMO.
How it would compare to other amps I think will
depend mostly on the speakers you choose to drive
them with. Into a benign 8 ohm load, mine
performs very well and its only 35 watts.

Can it handle fine details and good imaging? some claim they like the
sound of sansui better than modern amps, I doubt the sansui can beat
typical NAD.
Sorry, I can't say as I don't have a NAD. However, imaging and detail
of the Sansui are fine IMO. These are uncolored, low distortion, flat
FR, high BW
amps when working well. Some feel those type of amps are sterile and
lifeless.
It depends on what you're looking for. If neutrality is OK with you,
then a good condition Sansui will work fine IMO. If you're looking for
some particular type of sound...then probably not.
In any case, my Sansui is well built IMO, for example the volume pot
remains quiet
after 30+ years which I can't say the same for much of my newer gear.
I will caution you that gear this old is likely to have diminished
capacity in the power supply filter section... you might want to have
the electrolytics replaced.
