I didn't even consider this.. its just too far away to be of any influence
or deterrent.

You don't drive there with an OTH: you fly. Germany (or Italy, for that
matter) is only a max of 2-3 hours by air. They start some shit, and
within a few hours 2-3 infantry brigades drop in to say hello. I
haven't looked at a map, but I think that any place within, say, 4-6
hours flight, is feasible.

How do you extract them?


They don't have tanks, so straight leg infantry would do if anything
started, at least initially. AF support from Aviano AB, Navy is already
there with cruise missiles, Marines and air support, perhaps vehicles
and so forth stored in Kuwait, and so on. It could work. Why not study
it?

Sounds like Somalia waiting to happen again. OTH air support in
urban fighting is a nightmare. You really want to send boots in
without armor?

As far as OTH? Why not?

After they forced Milosovich to cease his military actions they
couldn't provide security for the Kosovo serbs... they were forced to
flea their homes in the face Albanian aggressions. What did we really
accomplish? Now we have a pissant lawless new Muslim country that
will forever be an orphan dependant on the UN.
