Knowing the identity of a dcertainly can affect the
perceptions of sound quality.

It is a pity that more people do not understand that
knowing the identity of a device can affect the
perceptions of sound quality.

Agreed. Many examples of this are regulars here.

Or maybe some people do
not want to understand; people being people, this is
understandable.

People tend to imagine that their perceptions are correct in a global sense.
"You mean you don't see things like I do?"

Hype's worst enemy is a critical thinker

Hence my postion of honor on Stereophile's enemies list.

who is able to, at least for a while, set aside his ego
to examine the evidence. But, again, people being
people, I think the golden-ears myth is going to have a
good hold of some people for many more years.

Golden Earism is like herpes - no known reliable cure. Once infected people
tend to stay infected and infect others.

And the
subjectivist audio magazines know this and are laughing
all the way to the bank.

At this time it is a visibly declining business. Demographics hurt.

JA must be very amused.

He's derived a goodly income, from this syndrome, to be sure. Admittedly
he's worked for it, but it was work largely in vain. He worsened the SNR of
Audio.

JA, take a bow. You deserve it, big guy. Audio has given me
many laughs, and I think audio will give me many more
laughs. Pity.

There is a defendable form of high end audio - audio based on reliably
testible practical advances in technology. These will natureally be more
costly until the mainstream picks them up.
