Oh yeah and why?

...You know........

Just for kicks and giggles, you could have one on the inside and one on
the outside. Providing, of coarse, that there are two FULLY seperate
chambers in that box. Theoretically, wouldn't that widen your
frequency range?

I'm no physicist either, but I'm told it makes no difference as far as
volume of air moved (kind of makes sense, like thinking about the
concept of
"for every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction"). I wish I
could
say I had a really technical reason for doing this, but frankly it
really
boils down to the fact I just think it looks really, really cool. I
tried
it both ways, and I really didn't notice a difference (of course, I'm
sure
there is a slight difference because, as you pointed out, the baskets
are
not taking up volume inside the box this way). My wife HATES it because
A)
she thinks it looks dumb, and B) it takes up more of what little cargo
area
we have left in our Forester.

Very, very cool Nick! I'm not totally there yet, but I'm closing
in...

Nice setup! are there technical/sound advantages to mounting the subs
outside the box? other than not having to take the cone/basket
displacement into consideration when constructing the box? how did
you seal them and did you screw or bolt them in? Do the speakers act
different being outside? it seems that they might because the front
of the cone is compressing the air instead of the opposite in a
traditional box. i'm no physicist...
