I read somewhere that something like 95% of the people who bought the book

That's just sad. Why buy it, then?

People don't always know they won't like a book before they buy it.

Then borrow it from the library!

What would be the point in buying a book I've already read?

LOL, I've done it more than once!

I actually just did it. I gave someone my copy of The Good German and
then decided I wanted to read it again :)

What ticks me off is when I buy the same book twice. Only happened
once to me and I'm still not sure how it happened. Ended up with two
of the hardcover copies of ... umm.. a Tom Clancy novel.. maybe Sum of
All Fears.

Addressing that particular problem was one of the first things I ever put my first PC to work to accomplish. Nowadays, I track my read stuff on Goodreads (online), LibraryThing (online) and Readerware (offline). (I'll use my bookish sig file in case anyone is interested.)
