It used to be that I would only occasionally watch movies and TV shows
on-line. Mostly, I would watch little short videos from YOUTUBE.
-
Now, with the poor economy, I have been forced to cut my TV cable down
to limited basic service. So I have lost SCI-FI CHANNEL, BBC AMERICA,
CARTOON NETWORK, and others. But, since I still need my computer, for
business purposes, I figured that I would see what I could find on the
Internet.

I had just been watching the new episode of EUREKA, only a few days
after it aired on “SYFY”. Not only were there very few commercial
interruptions, but there was no mindless clutter, such as intruding
pop-ups, endless “reminders” for other programs, and deceptive
“spoiler” spots. For the first time in years, I could even see the
complete closing credits and hear all of the end music. It was
wonderful! [ SIGHS CONTENTEDLY ] It is amazing how the simple things
can so easily be forgotten.

The only thing I miss is the Closed-Captioning. I am not hard of
hearing. But sometimes seeing the words help to clear up some
confusing plot points. (Of course, if I really need to see them, then
I suppose that I could wait until [or if] the DVD comes out.) There
are only a few web sites (like NBC.com), which have “sub-titles”, but
you have to remember to check the on-line controls for them.
-
Also I miss watching TV in my easy chair. At least, my desk chair
should give me better posture! [LAUGHS] Uncomfortable as it is, I
won’t be falling asleep quite as easily.

Just my oberservations — for what it’s worth

For the most part is seems that people don't like watching TV online, but they do like watching TV shows they get from the Internet.

It is possible to link your TV with your computer so that anything you have on your computer will be displayed on your TV. (You could even just tape the video and audio output if you don't have a nearby TV and play it back on TV.) Right now I'm using my computer (with a TV tuner card) as my TV, and with a decent sized monitor it's just as good (even better if you consider even a CRT monitor can be used for HD).

I was watching streaming Internet TV on TV at least five years ago, although the quality was nowhere near as good.
