The AT&T Family Talk with Rollover cellular plan commercials
have
been
a
terrific ad campaign. They make the key points about the
product,
"Saving
minutes saves money," and sell it with humor that hits very
close
to
home. I love the mother and teenage son arguing about rollover
minutes,
both of them glaring at each other, both rolling their eyes.
The
two
actors must have had a hard time to keep from cracking up.

Is that the family with the nutcase mother where the rest of the
family
is trying to ditch their old minutes, and she wants them to use
them?
It's interesting that they're playing her as more and more
psychotic
as
the series goes on.

Psychotic? Not what I get out of it.

Yeah.  Well, obsessed and borderline Postal.  I expect she will be
carrying some sort of gun soon.

None of you has ever had an absurd argument with a teenager? Just
substitute "take out the trash" or "do the dishes". This is barely
parody.

Right, but the series started out with the kid being wasteful and
the
mom somewhat reasonable, and they've shifted to where the whole
family
is mocking and/or wary of her, and what he said about the gun.

Seriously, yeah, great commercials.  The actress is talented.  My
favorite is still one of the first ones, where the husband says
"Isn't
your sister lactose intolerant?"

Heh.

Yeah, that was great.  That's when the father sided with the kids,
because the mother has lost it.

I could see this family in a comedy. Unlike the Geico Cavemen, it's
not
just the one joke.

There's another carrier that has the ad with the father who sort of
looks like Tom Hanks and his 3 daughters trying to fix him up with some
hot grandma, that just SCREAMS continuing series, and yet I've only
ever
seen the one spot.

Just for Men haircolor.  Because grandma thought he was super
delicious (I watch too much tv).

LOL, is *that* what that's for?  Nah, it's a cell phone service isn't
it?  One of the girls says they all talk to everybody 'cause he got them
such a great plan.

There's the mark of a truly dreadful ad - not only do we know what the
brand is, we aren't even sure of the product line!

Oh yeah, it is for the Fave Five or something. I got it confused with
the one where the two daughters tell their dad he would be a great
catch, and hand him the "Just For Men" hair color.

I thought it was cute, the first time I saw it, but it got annoying
really fast. Although I still like "super delicious".

T-Mobile

I'd forgotten about the hair color ad, but now that you give me the
details, I recall seeing that too. Not nearly as much as the T-Mobile
ad though.
