Katee Sackhoff to co-star on '24'

And just when I thought 24 couldn't get any funnier!

Maybe this will get Fred to watch. Let's just hope Janeane is back next
year, so Katee and Janeane can analyze data expertly together!!!1!

My friends say I have to start from Day One.

Your friends think you have to watch from Day One as opposed to just
jumping into it when the next season begins? Nah, I disagree. Season
One will always be the best, because we didn't know then that almost
every character is expendable and every season has multiple moles and
turncoats, so there were shocking deaths and twists. But, I don't
think you have to have watched any previous season to understand what
will be shown in the next season. In fact, Jack Bauer (and his
daughter Kim) are the only characters that remain from Season One ( I
think Chloe appeared in Season Two), so it's not like there's any
backstory to know.

Actually, this past season was done a little differently than previous
seasons and I suspect they'll do the next season in the same format,
which was sort of a series of three episode arcs. For example, the
first ep in the arc would set up some obstacle, like Jack has to find
a data card and there's minimal action and lots of discussion and
strategy. The next ep would have characters closing in on the baddie
with the card and the third ep would have tons of action and would end
with Jack getting the card and learning the name of some other baddie.
The next set of 3 would begin with Jack trying to find that baddie and
there wouldn't be much mention of the first baddie, so if you tuned in
at that point, you wouldn't be lost. The "previously" openers were
really good at telling you just what you needed to know.

In past seasons, you had to keep track of lots of details that were
revealed early on, which made it difficult for people to jump in. Last
season, there seemed to be an effort to make the show more accessible
to newcomers. Obviously, the story had more resonance if you watched
it from the beginning, but by the final 6 eps or so, the first 6 eps
weren't all that relevant.
