They made it a plot basis on Everwood, then House, then Scrubs.

I don't think Huntington's is that common -- I think that it's just
very, very convenient to use as a medical storyline because of its
inherent Schroedinger's Cat dilemma. It's hereditary (genetic) *and*
incurable *and* it isn't bogged down with gender/sexual identity
issues (breast cancer, prostate cancer) or the baggage of STDs (in
particular, HIV).
