Fantastic finale. The people that watched this series were well rewarded.
I completely disagree. I thought it was a terrible ending! Making
the entire series a dream sequence was a major cop out. They had an
opportunity to tie up the ending until that whole astronaut thing
ruined it. I loved the series, and even loved the finale, until the
last 10 minutes.
So, you hated the finale of St. Elsewhere and Newhart also?
It was like one big April Fool's joke on the fans.
I disagree. It isn't like the show hasn't reminded us during every episode
of the idea that this was all going on in Sam's head.
--- And therein lies the difference between this ending and that of
St. Elsewhere and Newhart. We knew it was a head thing with Life on
Mars, no one at all expected the kind of endings the other two shows
would have because there was nothing along the way to even hint at how
they would end. The Mars ending was unimaginative at best. Life on
Mars = Life on Mars, and everybody was in the dream just as they were
there to embark on Mars, get it? Yeah, I get it. Yawn.
It was a lot more original than having him really be in a coma in 2008.
