I just dont get it.
I can not imagine Leno viewers - jumping right on the Conan
bandwagon. Can't stand the dude...never could ..but what do I
know. Thanks for any help ...
I think it was less about Leno and more about Conan, neither of which
are funny.
they have to be funny.
I don't even bother any more, but I know when the tv listings in the
paper did list who'd be the guests, I might stay up to watch because
someone specific was on. And I just had to sit through so much junk
to get to the guests, and with my luck it was usually the last guest
so I had to sit through it all. Too often it seemed like the guests
were mere filler.
I'd cut out all the opening stuff, and get to the guests right away.
The could still put in some of the skits or whatever as filler between
interviews, but make it all secondary to the guests.
It boggles my mind to read that people stayed up late to hear what
Johhny Carson said, not because I dislike him but because it just
never fit what I thought the show should be about.
I suspect they don't change the format because they've had it
that way for so many decades, and presumably because people still
do tune in for the "laughs".
