-Ratings Breakdown:
Pre-season football led NBC to an unimpressive Sunday victory, with
330,000 more viewers and a 24 percent advantage over the No. 2 network
(CBS in viewers and Fox in adults 18-49). Dateline opened the evening
for NBC with 5.32 million viewers (#3) and a second-place 1.4 rating/5
share among adults 18-49 at 7 p.m. That led into the Indianapolis vs.
Washington match-up (including the pre-game) at an approximate 7.20
million viewers and a 2.4/ 7 in the demo from 8-11 p.m. Keep in mind
that the results for any live sporting event are always approximate.
CBS? veteran 60 Minutes was first in the 7 p.m. hour in total viewers
(8.00 million -- the most-watched show of the evening), but third
among adults 18-49 (1.2/ 4). Next was Big Brother 10 at a second-place
6.67 million viewers and a 2.3/ 7 among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m.,
followed by repeats of Million Dollar Password (Viewers: #2, 5.33
million; A18-49: #4, 1.3/ 3) and Cold Case (Viewers: #2, 5.58 million;
A18-49: #2, 1.3/ 4) from 9-11 p.m. This week, Jessie is on the block
with arrogant Memphis on Big Brother. Go, Renny!
ABC?s High School Musical ? Get in the Picture sunk to a series-low
3.00 million viewers and a 0.9/ 3 among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m.
Retention out of repeat lead-in America?s Funniest Home Videos
(Viewers: #2, 5.52 million; A18-49: #1, 1.6/ 6) was just 54 percent in
total viewers and 56 percent in the demo. Comparably, this very well
could be ABC?s lowest rated Sunday 8 p.m. performance in the history
of the network. Also on ABC were repeats of Extreme Makeover: Home
Edition (Viewers: #4, 4.50 million; A18-49: #3, 1.6/ 4) and Desperate
Housewives (Viewers: #3, 3.27 million; A18-49: #3, 1.1/ 3) from 9-11
p.m.
Fox also lagged with its repeat combination of two episodes of ?Til
Death (Viewers: #4, 1vg. 2.03 million; A18-49: #4, avg. 0.8/ 3 from
7-8 p.m.), two episodes of The Simpsons (Viewers: #3, avg. 4.62
million; A18-49: #3, avg. 2.0/ 6 from 8-9 p.m.), Family Guy (Viewers:
#2, 5.50 million; A18-49: #1t, 2.5/ 7) and American Dad (Viewers: #3,
4.89 million; A18-49: #2, 2.2/ 6). Don?t forget that ?Til Death airs
Wednesday at 9 p.m. out of Bones this fall.
There was nothing to say, of course, with the CW?s encore combination
of One Tree Hill (Viewers: 638,000; A18-49: 0.3/ 1), Everybody Hates
Chris (Viewers: 818,000; A18-49: 0.4/ 1), canceled Aliens in America
(Viewers: 837,000; A18-49: 0.4/ 1), The Game (Viewers: 1.11 million;
A18-49: 0.4/ 1) and concluded Girlfriends (Viewers: 1.09 million;
A18-49: 0.4/ 1), which was never granted an official final episode.
