You mean you don't like to be watching a show and have a miniature of
a character from another show on that network come out at the bottom
of the screen and wave and dance and all that for you? Why, whatever
is wrong with you?! I just adore it! I have almost forgotten what TV
was like before, and good riddance. I much prefer to be caught up in a
dramatic scene in "The Closer" and have little Bill Engvall come out
on the bottom of the screen mugging and goofing off to promote his
show. It breaks up the tension a bit, y'know?

It is outlandish, is it not? I don't know how obvious it is on the Big
Three, but F/X, TNT, TBS, and USA are downright obnoxious with it. It
really isn't fair, and it's like you said, it breaks up the tension and is
extremely distracting. I already pretty much prefer renting stuff to
watching broadcast TV, and these networks are driving me further away. This
week, I bought the Blu-Ray edition of MAD MEN, because it starts the new
season this Sunday and I wanted to bring my companion up to speed on it.
She watched just a couple of episodes in the original run. As I've watched,
I was wondering if AMC ran those big ads at the bottom of the screen like
everyone else, with all of that animation, and how I'd react to it if they
did. I'll have to wait and see. I hope they don't. Over the last year,
AMC has provided some very original programming, and that lends them a level
of class. That sleazy animation will ruin it.
