What does starring "opposite" mean?

What it says. It's a very old term.
So if it means what it says, then in every scene where they are together
they'll be on opposite sides of the screen. Is that what you're saying?
One will never pass behind or in front of the other? They'll be filmed
like the identical cousins in The Patty Duke Show? Opposite?
Truth is, you don't *know* what it means, do you.

He's right. It's an old, well-known term. It indicates actor A is
co-starring with actor B.
The words "starring opposite" results in about 111,000 hits on Google.
