'Andromeda Strain' Infects Another 5 Million Viewers
Miniseries’ Second Installment Builds On Premiere
By Mike Reynolds In a rarity for miniseries, the second installment of The Andromeda
Strain built on the first night, earning A&E Network some 5 million
viewers Tuesday.

Obviously not one of the worst ever seen by them...
The fact that they watched it doesn't mean it wasn't one of the worst they've ever seen; quite the opposite. They HAVE to have seen it for it to be one of the worst they've ever seen.
I'm SHOCKED that NBC-Universal actually spent $$$ for a cable miniseries....
And got pigslop in return.

It wasn't that bad. In fact, I rather enjoyed it because I simply don't
remember the other one. Was it as environmentally preachy? I mean, was the
identity and reason for andromeda the same?

No, the reason for andromeda was totally newly invented for this production. It wasn't the same as in the 1971 movie or 1969 novel at all.

Imagine...Crichton as environmentally preachy...
