I'm getting sick of that argument from republicans and Hillary
supporters that he should have left the church over this. And
they say he just sat there week after week for 20 years while the
reverend spouted all this very extreme crazy stuff. In reality,
these sorts of extreme comments were probably much less common
than more traditional preacher types of comments. They didn't
occur week after week, and Obama was probably away from the
church often when they were made.

Plus, as an older man, Wright would have suffered huge amounts of
discrimination in his early years. So it's understandable Wright
would have some degree of anger and irrationality within him
toward white society. Younger Blacks understand this aspect and
are fairly tolerant of it in their elders. They tend to tolerate
that even though they disagree with it, and they look to the
person's more fundamental traits.
All in all this is a matter that can easily be exploited by
politicians right now, but I'm hoping that longer term it will
backfire on the exploiters.

Bob Edwards put it very well on his show today. Something like,
Obama represents how far blacks have come in America and Wright
represents how much further we still have to go. The thing some
white folks don't seem to want to understand about Wright's
generation is that, as you pointed out, they have lots of reasons
to be royally pissed. It should surprise no one if that anger is
occasionally expressed.

Well, I'm sick of people who live in the past and refuse to walk in the light of today, and just want to keep preaching hate because they're bitter and move on already.

Oh, really? So you don't ever get angry? You sound sort of righteously angry right now. Why can't HE get angry every now and then, when he examines what his life has been like? He grew up in DEADLY racism. That will definitely give him a perspective on human nature that you're too thick to even remotely appreciate. You sound like a very limited person, someone who's been indoctrinated into whatever you believe instead of actually learning to THINK, and coming to your beliefs that way.
