Since their computers will be down for another hour, I thot I'd ask here:
Anyone else have trouble with their Comcast DVR? Mine stopped playing
recording or even rewind live tv. Whenever I try, it freezes up. I try to
rewind and the screen freezes. If I try to play a recording the screen
goes
black and it freezes at the start of the recording time (the little bar
that
indicates how far along it is in the recording remains stuck at zero, even
if I try to fast forward).
If so, how were you able to fix it (hopefully other than a replacement)?
I don't know if this has to do with Daylight Savings Time or not because
last Sunday evening the cable box cut out during a recording, causing it
break up the recording in segments, but by the morning it was fine. Plus I
could play other recordings that evening.
Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

P.S. It's the Motorola model, dual-tuner DVR.
I haven't seen all that with my Explorer 8000 from Time Warner but I do
occasionally get recordings that won't play at all. I can go to the menu
fine but when I press on play, it just goes to a black screen and freezes.
I
just unplug the DVR and let the machine reboot itself when plugged back
in.
It seems fine again for a while.
I don't know if you remember but last fall I was in here asking for some
suggestions on what to get to replace my old vcr/dvd combo unit. Since
digital cable was only $12 more a month, I went with their dvr rather than
buy something myself. I have to say, I like lots that it can do (my
favorite is pausing live TV) and it's cleared up some of the snowy
channels
but there are a lot of drawbacks. This is one one of them. The DVR's
seem
to be very touchy and things quit working easily. That and the extremely
slow channel tuning people mentioned in here just recently. I'm one of
those people who was used to channel surfing by just holding down the
forward or backwards channel button. That takes forever with these DVR's.

Bingo, that did it, unplugging and replugging the dvr.
