I read a summary of tonight's episode(a third season repeat) that
mentions Kathy Najimy's character, Millie. I can't remember the

No, she hasn't been on at all this season, but I don't know what's
going on with her character, aside from a couple of mentions.

She was never intended to be a long-term addition to the cast. She
was basically there to sub for Peter McNichol while he was off
doing "24" last season (which is why they had his character on a
space shuttle mission).

Now that McNichol is back, they don't need Millie around. They still
refer to her character, no doubt in case they need to bring her
back for some reason, but there's no point in having her appear
in just a scene now and then to establish that the character is
still around, when they can just mention her by name. It costs a
lot less, too.

The thing is, she was dating Dad and they haven't explained why they're
not together. Or maybe that's what you meant by referring to her...

Didn't Alan say that he had gone back to school, for which he needed
Charlie's help, because of Millie?
