During the strike why don't the networks air British, Canadian or
Australian etc sitcoms and dramas? I know SciFi does it with Dr Who and
Lifetime with Blood Ties so why not ABC/Fox/NBC etc?

If I was a network exec I would be scouring the globe for a good English
language drama or sitcom to air while strike is going on especially if
it continues into 2008. Or even nonEnglish shows and get translators.

For ABC - with Ugly Betty going possibly into deep 2008 without new
episodes why not hire translators to dub the original UB and put the
original in the 8pm Thursday slot. I believe it was a short run series
so do 2 hours every Thursday until new UB episodes can air.

Because the US version of UB has nothing to do with the other
versions. US Ugly Betty is a high budget/quality 1 hour comedy, the
other versions of dumb and cheap telenovellas (in comparison, daily
soap is for intellectuals) that are unbearable to watch for more and 3
minutes.

Plus, Telenovelas run FOREVER. A "short run" might be 600 hour episodes.
