"Pushing Up Daisies"? isn't that the common cliche term for
being dead? Just wondering.......

Because the people he deals with in the series aren't just dead
- that is, they aren't just "pushing up daisies." Instead, they
are dead, then not dead ("pushing down daisies"?), then
sometimes dead again.

By just using "Pushing Daisies," they change the unidirectional
nature of the standard phrase, thus better reflecting the Pie
Maker's abilities (and limitations).

Exactly. And, it makes perfect sense because the oft used phrase
is Pushing up the Daisies.

You're all wrong, wrong, wrong, all wrong. The actual oft-used
phrase is "kicking the bucket", but my guess is that market
research showed that "Kicking Buckets" just didn't make it as a
series title, nor does it contain the inherent Seuss-like color
quality of "Daisies". Not to mention that the show would probably
get a V rating if the hero went around kicking corpses alive.

There's nothing "wrong" about the euphemism "pushing up daisies." It's
one of MANY, which also include "no longer shopping the Piggly Wiggly"
and "in the streo cabinet.". How silly to tell someone they are wrong
just because you simply prefer something else or have heard it more
often.

I don't hear "bucket" nearly as often as I do "daisies," and neither as
often as "toes up."

Check your lip; there's a hook in it.
