I agree with you. Nothing in that episode rang true.
I thought at first that he took it to use it as leverage with Patty. He
eventually did do that but it became obvious that it wasn't what he
wanted to do at first. I think he initially took it in the heat of the
moment then spent most of the rest of the episode agonising over it (as
in when he got drunk) because he realised he couldn't do it. I agree it
didn't ring completely true though.
Frobisher is paying off the lead plaintiff. Is that the lawyer he told
him to hire? Or was it simply coincidental that the other plaintiffs
pushed to hire Tom, which turned out to be in Frobisher's interest?
I thought Frobisher would have told him to hire Tom.
