I thought it was a very good episode. This show's taking off (at least
in my eyes), I'm starting to look forward to it.
Tom was a dumb ass to cave to Patty though. At the very least he
should have insisted on his name on the firm. I think he was stupid to
come back into Patty's fold. I imagine she'll make him pay for his
disloyalty.
Also didn't really buy Tom trying to poach Ellen. How much help can a
first year attorney really be?
I couldn't buy the whole idea that Tom was taking on the Frobisher
case all by himself, with no staff and no office. Patty had all of her
resources working around the clock on it. What can one guy do by
himself?
I agree with you. Nothing in that episode rang true.
Frobisher is paying off the lead plaintiff. Is that the lawyer he told
him to hire? Or was it simply coincidental that the other plaintiffs
pushed to hire Tom, which turned out to be in Frobisher's interest?
What I don't think Frobisher counted on was that Tom would run back to
Patty.
That's reasonable. What's not reasonable is that Patty assumed Tom would
run back to her. I guess the writers are trying to make us believe that
Patty's manipulations were superior to Frobisher's, that Tom was set up,
first with the phoney firing then with the phoney disparagement to make
him consider other job offers, all this so Patty wouldn't lose the class
of plaintiffs, with the added benefit of reminding Tom that he's her slave.
I think Frobisher thought Tom would take the case and go to the other firm.
I guess that's possible, but the other firm may have had more resources
than Patty and may have pushed for trial anyway.
With Patty out of the picture Frobisher probably thought he had it
won. Now that Patty is back on board I feel like Frobisher is right back
where he was before this episode.
The manipulation for manipulation's sake is starting to get in the way of
telling a good story.
