Please, if anything it will get more people to watch their shows (or
not, judging by the BW comments here).

I agree. I've already seen conflicting reports on this. On CNBC a
reporter that hadn't seen the shows talked about how they might hurt
the audience due to poor quality of the clips or people not liking the
shows. Then I read another report from a reporter that had actually
seen the clips and talked about how the quality was the same as you
would see from the networks video sites so that shouldn't hurt the
shows, and how word of mouth might hurt some shows but it might help
others.

I definitely agree with them that word of mouth may hurt or help a
show when people see it early. I know I've already watched a few of
the previews and it has only confirmed my views. Shows that I liked
from the descriptions still seem likeable and others are shows I'll
never watch. It also helped to confirm my view that a show like
"Chuck" might provide some entertainment but I doubt it will make it
past the first season, much like "Jake 2.0."

Plus I'm not so sure the networks didn't help get these shows out
there. I know that the last summer a few shows got really good 'word
of mouth' due to people seeing the shows like "Heroes." They know how
effective this can be and I'm sure we will see them start to use this
more. I know they have all put trailers on their web sites to help
drum up some interest. Plus there was a couple of shows that drew a
lot of interest but unfortunately didn't make it on the air. Still
without ever getting any official support the shows had a lot of
people clamoring for more.
