Thought that while the ending ep had some good moments, it was overall ho-hum.
Lukewarm quality.
Speaking of the season as a whole, 60 depended too much on a certain political
and 'moral' stance to support its identity. It wasn't enough. For me it
detracted, because I saw it as smug and self-righteous much of the time; there
were few real attempts at even-handedness among the false shows of fairness.
The acting was good, the sets just fine, the photography and everything else
tight, but in the end I just wasn't interested in being preached to, didn't
want political commentary, hatred and venting. I didn't want to be 'improved'
by the characters.
What I was looking for was more comedy, more drama, less sap and far more food
for thought. After all, it was Sorkin's choice to go pol and culti but he
never even passed the hors d'oeuvres plate around.
He kept too intense an eye on the partisan prize and in the process robbed the
show of its well-deserved birth.
So yeah he sold out but he also lost. Sadder still, so did we.
And I'm still hungry. Nex
