I used to live there. I actually SAW Jennimgs walking along that very
street one day ten years ago on his way to work. He dropped off his
producer girlfriend at the side door of the building (btw she later
became his wife), then he stopped and stared at the poster of himself
outside ABC headquarters for a good 30 seconds. Then he finally walked
in.
Gee. That makes me feel old.

Block Near Central Park Named for Jennings
A block near the headquarters of ABC News has been renamed Peter
Jennings Way, honoring the beloved broadcaster who died of lung cancer
last August.
The portion of 66th Street between Columbus Avenue and Central Park
was renamed Tuesday after the Canadian-born anchorman who not only
worked in the neighborhood but also lived nearby and even knew
shopkeepers and street vendors there, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said.
"Peter spent decades speaking directly to each of us, with his face
and that voice, and we'll walk down Peter Jennings Way, smile at the
thought of an old friend and then continue on," Bloomberg said.
Jennings' wife, Kayce Freed, and two grown children, Elizabeth and
Christopher Jennings, joined ABC News President David Westin, City
Councilwoman Gale Brewer and the mayor for the dedication.
Jennings' family members said the gesture was especially meaningful to
them and they hoped it would remind journalists and passers-by of his
life and legacy.
