IMHO, nothing is too stupid for me to believe that Matt would do it.

I disagree. I think it would be totally in charactor, Matt's a weasly
whiner. Yes, he's had a turn around in the last episode or two, but I'm
not sure he's had a full charactor makeover.
But most importantly, people often repeat behavior that worked for them
in the past and Matt didn't report the Kara Fitzgerald incident AND HE
GOT AWAY WITH IT. He suffered no consequences, he was questioned by the
police, lied and got away with it. Why wouldn't he think he could do
the same again?
