A lot of comedy does not stand the test of time. That does not mean it
was not funny at the time, only that what was considered funny in the
30s or 40s or 50s may not get the same laughs today. One thing you
could say, however, is that those comedians of yore worked their tails
off in every medium available - tv, movies, radio, stage, Vegas,
theater, records - and built careers from years of hard work.

And I'd rather watch Groucho than the likes of Chris Rock any day.
