Re: New TV Guide a Sales Success! Sort of.



TV Guide is hard to find at my local supermarkets. It's not likely that
it sells out, since the full-size racks are occupied by other magazines.
I suspect distribution is poor (or display space is hard to come by).

In addition to the bargain-basement price in recent months, TVG has run
a number of 50-cents off coupons, both before the change and as recently
as the current week's issue, which must mean they're losing money on
sales to people who use those.

Speaking as one who tends to look up listings online even when he has a
TV Guide and a newspaper TV book handy, I would not mind the new format
if the depth of the articles at least approached that of the features
section of Entertainment Weekly. Unfortunately, with few exceptions,
they barely qualify as "shallow" ... I've seen more detailed writing in
"Nickelodeon Magazine".
