Foreign TV

My work sometimes takes me to various foreign countries. Prior to this, my exposure to foreign TV was a few Brit-coms on PBS and the occasional foreign commerical special on Fox.
I've now been to Austria and France and Canada several times.
Just wondering if anyone else has any good TV experiences in foreign countries?
I've discovered a few gems, and now am frustrated trying to find them on DVD... Doc Martin, and Coronation Street from the UK, and some of the Canada-specific stuff like Daily Planet and How It's Made from the Canadian version of the Discovery Channel.
One of the funniest things was Full House in German. If you remember the show, everyone was always so sweet and nice, but in German, every scene sounds like they're all fighting. ;-)
Cooking shows are perfectly understandable in French, even if you don't speak the language. The techniques and dishes are so visual, no translation was necessary.
