OK, having now seen this - they apparently just repeated the pilot from
last week this Sunday - let me put some thoughts out there.

1) Low production-values shows *can* work.

Most non-US countries have proved that, from "Edgemont" (CAN) to "The
Tribe" (NZ). Even the US has had some low-production value shows that
have worked - e.g. "Sweet Valley High".

But every example I've listed above was a *30-minute* show.

It seems like low production values only really work over a half-hour
show - try to take it out to an hour-long show, and it gets very
tedious. AFAIK, the last US show that tried it was "Swan's Crossing",
and while I've never seen it, the people who have seen it were as
scathing about it as people are about "Palmetto Pointe".

2) Forget about the production values, generally - the *SOUND* pick-up
on this show was *atrocious*. Background music and sounds were too loud,
and nearly drowned out the dialogue. Bad sound pick-up is the quickest
way to get me to abandon a TV show or a (usually indie) movie.

3) Shows about sports, or where sports is a major component, usually
fail (notice that "One Tree Hill" has effectively dropped its B-ball
angle).

4) Some of the cast of this show is a *trip*:

- Two "Dawson's Creek" refuges: John Wesley Ship (Dawson's dad)
& Nina Repeta (Joey's sister)

- One minor "One Tree Hill" refugee (Sarah Edwards, who played
chreeleader, and Brooke cohort, Theresa).

- And apparently a "90210" refugee (IMDb lists Gabrielle Carteris,
though she didn't show up in the pilot).

- Josh Holland (best known from "USA High") is also in this - I
did *not* expect to see him here.

5) The rest of the cast? Laddy's right - not good. The supposed "lead"
guy (star pitcher) is particularly lackluster. About the only positive I
can come up with them is that a few of them seem to have genuine SC
accents.

6) Oh, and that's one *big* kuddo for this show - it's set in
Charleston, SC. NO NYC!! YEAH!!!

7) This show is paced *terribly* - dialogue moves too slowly (and is
just bad), too many music-filled montages to fill dead air, etc.
No... just, no.

8) Not even a "Scenes from Next Week". Geez.

So, no, I won't be watching next week.
