ROCK STAR INXS performances (8/30)

Thank god. After two weeks of mostly dismal performances, things improved
greatly this week.
1. Ty Taylor - "You Can't Always Get What You Want" by the Rolling Stones
Ty comes back into the fold with a great version of this song. None of the
tempo problems he had last week with "Proud Mary", he did a damn fine job.
2. J.D. Fortune - "Suspicious Minds" by Elvis Presley
Dreadful. I don't know how much more of this guy I can take before I just
mute the TV when he's on. Who is voting for him!? Unless it's just some
fun trick like "Vote for the Worst" to make JD the winner stop it. He's
horrible. This is one of my favorite Elvis songs and he just utterly
butchered it. He was an Elvis impersonator? Now we know why he isn't
anymore.
3. Marty Casey - "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd
I don't like Pink Floyd. At all. I think they were brilliant with Syd
Barrett and then dumped him to become crappy stoner rock. So the fact that
I liked this performance told me Marty did a damn good job here.
4. Jordis Unga - "Imagine" by John Lennon
She started off weak. Very weak. It picked up later on, but as much as I
still like her...that's just not a hard song to sing. Lennon was not that
strong a singer to begin with, the lyrics and the music drove the song. She
still did fine on it, but really I'm starting to think we've reached her
plateau so to speak.
5. MiG Ayesa - "Live and Let Die" by Paul McCartney
I enjoyed this a lot. But then I've come to expect that from MiG, so it's
not like I can really praise it through the roof. Consistently he's the
best in the competition, and he did nothing to change my mind of that
tonight (I still think, when Ty's on, he's better than MiG)
6. Suzie McNeil - "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen
This was a total mess, and I don't think it was really Suzie's fault. The
song was a ridiculous choice for a format like this. I didn't expect much
from her at all, but she started off strong and I thought she'd pull it off.
Then it got to the middle (Gallileo) and just fell apart. She couldn't stay
in tune, her pitch was all over the place, the backup band and choir was
making things cacaphonous (and I'm betting she couldn't hear crap at this
point). Then she ends it on a strong note, which makes me think a lot of
that had as much to do with the song just being a poor, poor choice for the
show as anything else.
I really only think one person deserves to be in the final 3 this week, and
that's JD. And we all know he won't be. Assuming they've got the choir
back, Suzie will be the encore because they acted like the performance was
orgasmic. Here's my predicted final 3
Ty
Marty
Jordis
