I flipped back and forth between CNN, MSNBC, FOX and Weather Channel
(Current? How the hell did that get in there? :)) to watch the coverage
yesterday afternoon and late last night.

Yesterday afternoon, when  I believe it was Shepard Smith that said
"There will be bodies in New Orleans tomorrow" I freaked. I tivo'd back
and listened again. shook my head and watched and listened a third
time.

Talk about playing the TABLOID MEDIA card. The other outlets were
talking about getting out of the area, the effect on Biloxi (Remember
Biloxi?) and the sad fact that some couldn't get out of N.O. and had to
go to the Superdome. Fox is beating a drum and proclaiming it to be the
carnage of the century. There were even comparassons to the Tsunami
last Dec.

About 2 am CT I was flipping channels to see what the media outlets
were doing. MSNBC ran live coverage, CNN had graphics and music beds
with live reports and FOX was TAPED! How can you tell? The Katrina
radar pic was further off shore than the other outlets and there was no
"LIVE" bug in the upper right.

Saw Sheppard Smith from a 3rd floor balcony in the French Quarter
tonight and thought to myself "Gee... if they don't want people to
enter the city for a week, who's gonna do the dry cleaning? Hope they
got plenty of MRE's and toilet paper"


It was actually kind of very nice to watch MSNBC overnight last night. Beats the crap they usually air. I've officially kissed CNN off my viewing list. I'll watch CNN Headline News for 'Showbiz Tonight' and for... well, actual short news bites. I never watch Fox News Channel though it's finally been allowed here. I watch MSNBC and BBC World primarily. Maybe EuroNews every so often.
