Loopholes? A guy, who can barely see, hastily cleaned up a mess of
blood and whatever else in the dark under stressful circumstances and
tossed everything into the fire. How hard is it to imagine that a
small fetus (about three inches in length) might have been there and
disposed of? Or if that doesn't work for you, isn't it feasible that
Ashley used the toilet at some point during the night and, since the
power was still out, didn't notice that she passed blood and tissue?
After a miscarriage, what's left behind eventually passes. I don't
think it requires a "sci-fi explanation," which is not to say we won't
be given one.
