There are just actors who have made a character "theirs" that it is
impossible to imagine anyone else in the role. And if they are "replaced"
the whole show is altered. It took me forever, and I am still not quite
sure about it, to accept Heather Tom's replacement. It still doesn't
quite work for me. She is nice enough, but, she just does not project the
strength that Tom did in the same role. Tom stood up to the withering
blast of Victor's anger and gave it back. This one floats in front of it
and gets blown away.
Agreed 100% (or as you folks say...+1).
Heather Tom played the roll with some balls. The new actress (aimile or amy
or whatever her name is) is more reactive than proactive. The show itself
did not go into the tank as a result of that recast (and HT is no where near
the stature of EB). However, I do think the character suffered tremendously
(and to this day has not recovered). As a result the writers have written
the role differentenly from how they did for HT. I remember when there was
a hint of Victoria starting to think about screwing over Brad when she was
married to him. I thought to myself....hell yeah!! It's about time she
showed some spunk!! But they dropped it. Hard to imagine HT taking the
same crap dished out to the character that the new actress has.
I'll be honest here. I still hold out hope that HT will reprise the role
some day.
