.Chris Heuisler who plays Cole Norbeck has been let go. His last day
is Dec 4th.
And so we say a not-so-fond "Hasta la vista, baby" to yet another ill-
conceived and poorly executed character that was thrust front and
center only to be discarded mere months later by TPTB in their
increasingly more inept attempt to provide viewers with something that
resembles, even vaguely, compelling drama.
You know, Cole didn't have to be the disaster that he was/is. I have
no idea if Heuisler is capable of anything better; I refuse to judge
his ability based on the utterly crappy storyline and cartoon
character he was asked to play. But I'm not sure it matters, given
what was "written" (in this case I have to use quotation marks) for
Cole, a cartoon villain if ever there was one. The saga of Sofie and
Cole could be used as a textbook example of how NOT to write a soap
story; it really should be a required case study in those classes for
soap writers that I think are still sometimes held. Just about
everything that could be wrong with a soap story *was* wrong with this
one. Sofie was disposable from the start, but as Gwen's brother, Cole
had potential. Or he should have. But the writers apparently weren't
up to the task. Sheesh.
So long, Cole. I'm sure whatever character they bring in to fill your
air time will be . . . no more successful than you were.
I would not hire Jean Passanante to write so much as a shopping list.
Michael
Chris Heuisler was excited to land the role. He was shocked to learn
Jesse Soffer was part of the cast, who he had just finished making a
movie with and immediately called Soffer up for tips. Heuisler
learned the character was going to be rotten to the core and was
worried that nobody would like him and was quickly told by Terri
Garber (Iris) that about all you can do is go along with it that she
has had to suffer the same experience with her character off and on
for 2 years.
It is sad that the show is getting rid of the wrong character.
If Sofie is going to be a sister for Noah, poor guy.
He never had the fortune of ever really knowing his best relative,
putting her line of work to the side.
And if she is Aaron's future love interest, my gosh, I thought Alison
was torture enough for the guy.
I assume they only brought Aaron back to the show for Alison when
truthfully, it should have been the other way around.
However, I might possibly like the Aaron-Alison pairing, if they can
ever get it really going and not botch it up. Their pairing may be
the only hope for the two and if done correctly could end up being the
show's next Super-Couple.
I do not see this happening with Aaron & Sofie at all.
