There's a spoiler at the end of this post... you have been forewarned,
IMNSHO.

Who here thinks that if Marie wins the whole enchilada tonight, there'll
be a fan revolt, which will signify the end of DWTS altogether??
That was the consensus of the water-cooler conversations today. A lot
of people were angry that Marie even made it to F3.
The ONLY reason I've ever thought Marie made it as far as she did is
because of her stupid fainting spell. I truly, truly believe that she
would have been voted off that particular week... or, if not that week,
then the next week for sure, if not for her stupid stunt.
What REALLY makes me livid about the whole thing is that the viewers
fell for it, hook, line and sinker... well, that and the fact that Marie
pulling that stupid-ass stunt not only calls into question the integrity
of her and her family, but also the integrity of the show, as well.
IOW, her stupid-ass fainting stunt (which I've felt was a planned
*STUNT* from the very beginning) has damaged more people's integrity
than just her own, and I find that to be a despicable thing to do to
other people... pull a stunt that could conceiveably damage not only
YOUR reputation, but also drag someone else's reputation through the mud
in the process (can ya tell I hate Marie???).
At the same time, if you're willing to go along with something as
devious as what Marie may have tried to do (by manipulating the viewers
with her "fainting"), then you should lie in the bed you've made for
yourself.
I have no respect for people who play the sympathy card so willingly and
shamelessly.
A couple of co-workers called and tried to vote for Mel and Max only be
to disconnected or told that the call could not go through.
I tried to vote last night and couldn't get through, either. Oh well...
I don't think that this kind of show works well, with respect to call-
ins from viewers, unless the network who's running the show, so to
speak, is willing to add an additional million phone lines. People
shouldn't have to sit around and re-dial a telephone that's giving then
back a busy signal for a fucking hour.
Same thing can be said for on-line voting, which I'll admit, I never
tried to do with DWTS. However, if the site where the votes are cast is
going to be so clogged with voters trying to vote that it's impossible
to log into the site and cast a vote, then whoever is responsible for
the voting needs to find a way for people to be able to cast their votes
online in a faster way, as well.
I honestly can see a day coming where people are going to get tired of
trying and trying and trying and trying to cast a vote when 50 million
other people are trying to do the same thing, but there isn't enough
"dedicated infrastructure" or whatever, on the receiving end of the
voting process, to be able to cast your vote in a timely fashion.
It's one of the many reasons that the prospect of online voting for
POTUS scares the hell out of me. People will get so fed up with not
being able to connect to a website to vote that they'll just stop trying
to vote altogether.
Then what???
*RAISES HAND*
Me too.
I'm SO glad that Marie didn't even make it to the final two tonight that
I wouldn't even begin to know where to start gushing about it. She
FINALLY got her comeuppance, if you ask me.
There IS a little part of me, yes, that has a problem with Julianne
Hough's repeat win, in that it creates the impression of a "cornering of
the market" similar to a monopoly. However, if you are as good as
Julianne and her partners (Apolo and Helio) are (and they ARE or WERE
good, IMVHO), then should there really be a rule created saying that a
team can't win twice in a row?? If so, why? If you're really that good
so as to win multiple championships (for anything, from DWTS to sports),
then who are we, as a society, to hold you back and tell you you can't
win more than 'x' number of rings, trophies, medals, etc., in a row??
