Has anyone on usenet found a way to tell how many people are reading a

way to determine how many people log in to RATSC to read each day?
I've always been curious how many people this ng reaches. Hey, does
Google Groups tell how many people go through their network? Is there a
formula that says if X number of people are posting, then there's X
number of people reading?
No, not really. They keep statistics on posting in Usenet, but lurkers can
only be estimated from the number of posters. There are numerous places
where you can read 'conventional wisdom' on what that factor is, though.
And, the statistics that are kept, have long been kept on posting, would
include posting from all sources - not just via Google Groups, for example.
And, the Google Groups 'statistics' only show the number of people who are
subscribed there. Anyone can read without subscribing. And, anyone can
subscribe there numerous times with different From data.
