The Deep South is hardly a small area and the Bible Belt is very strong
and very anti-homosexual.

And unfortunately that is where I live. It is literally hell to live here
and be a pagan bisexual!

It's also hard to be anti-religion ANY place. I think
atheism/agnosticism is the newest, most accepted bias in this country.
Can you imagine someone running for national public office and
declaring that they do not believe in god? They wouldn't stand a
chance.

You know what bugs the hell out of me. Someone told me homosexuality can't
be acceptable in the U.S. because this country was founded on "christianity"
I just told them they were dead wrong. Most of the founding fathers of this
country weren't Christians at all. They might believe in a deity of some
kind, but certainly not the fundamentalist god bush and co are pushing in
government now. This country was found on "freedom of, and freedom from"
religion. So we have the right to worship, or in fact, not worship at all. I
hate the idea people hold that we are founded on this fundie christianity
when nothing could be farther from the truth.

Here in Orlando, people will give me a business card that shows they
are a plumber and it will mention that they are a Christian, as well.
Saw one for a handyman, "Rev. John Smith" like I care what he does for
his other job. "Have a blessed day," drives me a little nuts, too.

I can't explain why something that is meant to be a nice sentiment
makes me bristle, but it does. I guess it's the automatic assumption
that I believe what they believe. I don't go around wishing people any
kind of day other than just a "good" one.
