Do yourself a favor and backup your work DAILY to CD or disk.

The problem was not back up, the problem was email. And, yes, I should have created a file with important email on the hard drive.

What happened was that when the "cleaner" got rid of the viruses it got rid of the email, because, evidently, all the viruses were embedded in the email. Not on my hard drive, yes, I know they were on the hard drive, but we removed those, but couldn't remove them from the email, so it just deleted the email.

But, thank you for knocking me upside the head.

So sorry about your problems - I learned the hard way due to lightening damage what can happen to lost files and e-mail drafts. So...I now use an external hard drive (Western Digital MyBook) and keep my files where they cannot get lost - this also allows me to back up my e-mail, etc. on a weekly basis (or whenever something important is added if in between back-ups). Good luck with finding your files and e-mails!
