Susan's waiting for Evelyn Nesbit to leave the hospital? Somebody's a

Didn't look yet at Wiki, but wasn't she the girl in the red velvet
swing with Stanford White, et all?

Yep, that's her. Widely considered the most beautiful woman of her day.

I've seen photos of her. I just don't see it. In fact, her face
looked rather meaty to me. Maybe she didn't photograph well.

I think it's more a case of a change in standards of beauty. Skinny was
*not* in. Obese wasn't, either, but today's waif-faced models would not
have been considered beautiful back then.

I dunno, though -- seems to me that this photo would be considered a
beautiful woman even today:

That's interesting. I saw a profile photo of her, maybe even taken at
the same photo session, and she looks very different. I can still
tell it's the same woman, but her front-on photo is much more
becoming.

My all-time benchmark of beauty has always been Liz Taylor,
full-figured or thinner (she was never really skinny). In that link
for the photo you posted of EN, she resembles ET slightly.

Karen, who should have been born during the Renaissance.

LOL, I wish those Rubens bodies were in style!

The actress widely considered a beauty that I just don't get is Julia
Roberts. Pretty, yes, but not a great beauty IMHO.

She's one of those women that has odd features (if you stare too long,
she becomes her brother). Her eyes are too small, too widely placed,
her top lip is very oddly shaped (but who cares when she flashes that
smile). The sum is greater than the parts, I guess. There are times
when she is beautiful, other times when she looks like, well, her
brother!

Sarah Jessica Parker is like that, too. I totally get why some people
say she has a horse face (hey, I like horses!), but generally, I think
she's beautiful. Maybe I just think it's beautiful that she embraces
her original features!
