Re: Y&R-I THOUGHT NICK WAS BACK

And who was first on the block to predict it when Mark was busy
weaving his intricate garlands of praises?

MarkH:
You all get credits for prescience.

FTR, I didn't ask that question above...Diva did.

I happened to REALLY like the
blend of old-and-new methodology.

I know you did.
I honestly never saw a "blend" of old and new methodology. For me, there
was a brief time when the pacing was hastened some and the dialogue
changed a little ... I felt those were improvements, too. After that,
for what I was watching, it was almost like someone could have drawn a
line separating where the old methodology was abandoned for the new.

Even yesterday and the day before,
I LOVED the humor and the pacing.

I too have liked the addition of more humor and have *always* thought
that would be a plus. But where a slightly accelerated pace was an
improvement initially, the break-neck, roller coaster pace for much of
it now is, IMO, way, WAY too fast.

But, the consistency and good
storytelling is way off, and the premises are increasingly wild. I
can buy wild premises (heck...I even can get into Passions the once-a-
year I tune it in)...but that is not sticking to the strengths of Y&R

ICAM.
A wild premise once in a while is okay to shake up more true-to-life
(though exaggerated), more readily believable stories ... but
wild-premise stories one after the other is not going to end up helping
the show long term, nor is it what Y&R was built on or what kept it
successful.
