Y&R US Wednesday air show

What a great show. Let me count the ways :-)

1. Deepening Sharon and Dru

The friendship we have seen here has been pretty unsatisfying. They
realized the had common ground one day in the NE break room, and
they've been "friends" ever since.

Not very gripping. Especially since neither had shared their big
secrets with one another.

Yesterday, they finally fessed up. I was prepared to dismiss it as
"recap", until I realized that recap was part of the old
methodology...not something the new methodology does. No, the intent
was to create a more solid basis for the friendship.

I hope this continues to become a real friendship, with mutual sharing
of facts and emotions.

And, honestly, it would be fun to see these too (legitimately,
justifiably) gang up on dear Phyllis...and to see her kick their
*sses!.

2. Noah

I'm just lovin' that little guy...he seems like a real boy to me. I
loved how disgruntled he was about his summer project...and how he
brightened up. I _especially_ loved when he made Nick and Phyllis
photocopy their faces! What a great hark-back to one of the funniest
moments of the summer.

3. Daniel and Lily

They skinny-dipped, right? And then made love at the beach? I'm not
sure, because I thought Daniel was suddenly wearing board shorts. But
maybe that was just a blanket wrapped around his waist?

Michael Graziadei seemed self-conscious about his physique...he didn't
show off his chest (as he has in the past). He was clothed, or behind
Lily, or on top of Lily. Makes me think he hadn't worked out lately or
something, and the scene hit him by surprise.

4. No Abbott/Baldwins

Much as I love that story, I was strangely pleased to have a day off
from it.

5. Carmen's choice

Some of us have been knocking Carmen for being a skank :-). Sleeping
with Jack. Trying to break up the Winters' marriage (e.g., by keeping
Dru out of town so she could go on a date with Neil). But, yesterday,
she seemed to have made a choice. She turned down Jack's "dessert"
offer, and she revealed to Neil that she has been practicing shooting
hoops.

Hmmmm.... It begins to seem that Dru has a right to be legitimately
worried.

6. No Friday

Friday-Monday will be pre-empted for US Open, as it has for as long as
I can remember.

I have often regretted that, but let's face it, many of us are doing
other things on Labor Day weekend anyway.

This year, though, the five-day hiatus is going to feel interminable.

Maybe I'll photocopy my face to make myself feel better.
