I have used some sarcasm, but I was sincere about that.

Is that humor? I can no longer tell with you.

Oh, but the many, many positive posts were all completely free of
sarcasm (NOT).

Yes, and any television judge in the land would rule "self-defense" in
favor of the Positives.

You've hardly acknowledged the possibility of people's
disagreeing with you,

What am I supposed to do to "acknowledge" that some viewers are
enjoying? I have acknowledged on *many* occasions that others were in
agreement with MarkH and Ravl in their positive perceptions. I have
acknowledged that the ratings were up; in fact, I even *listed the
gains* in a post to MarkH a couple of days ago! Do you just selectively
ignore the parts of my posts that don't suit your beef with me?

Yeah. It's called building your case. Jack does it. You do it. (You
smartly chopped off my post to which you first responded tonight, for
example.)

and I've said we'll see how long the ratings hold up long term.

Gee, there's that Shirl positivity.

I never said that was positive -- that was an example of how I was *not
insisting* that anyone agree with me. The ratings will tell what the
Nielsen viewers think. I'm allowed to express my thoughts/predictions
about the future of the show just like you or MarkH or Ravl or anyone
who posts regularly here.

I'll bet you win for sheer volume of words.

Again, if my stuff is too wordy for you, don't read it.

I do, somedays, and then somedays, I don't.

you should not *not* expect any reaction. And that seems to be
what you do expect. That we should all just not have any reaction to
how you hate the show today. And how much you hated it yesterday. And
how much you're going to hate it tomorrow. Why should we not be able to
react?

You must be kidding. I *love it* when people react to my opinions,
negative *OR* positive. Posts that stir reactions are cause the most
interesting discussions/debates. I disagree with you and some of the
other current positive thinkers but I still find your POVs interesting;
you, however, just find opposing POVs tiring, they give you bad dreams.

I'll keep an open mind.

This newsgroup is like the show in that we each look for something
different. You seem to like it best when everyone agrees; I find it more
interesting when people are debating different points of view.

I'm sorry this is happening to you over a TV show.
But how is that my fault?

Well, you do go on.

So I should curtail my opinions because of how they affect *you*?

If reading the discussions here have bad effects on
you, it's up to you to deal with that; don't blame me

I am dealing with it. I'm saying something. I'm not
internalizing it anymore.

Fine. Say whatever you want. Just quit telling me what I should or
shouldn't say in response.

I am no more "obsessed with instigating" anything than anyone
who is posting "relentless" numbers of strongly-worded positive posts.

But it's nice to say nice things about something.

Your words to me are just as applicable in reverse here: "[...] you
should not *not* expect any reaction. And that seems to be what you do
expect. That we should all just not have any reaction to how you love
the show today. And how much you loved it yesterday. And how much you're
going to love it tomorrow. Why should we not be able to react?"

You want a double standard RH -- you and others can "go on" about how
much you love the new Y&R, but those who feel differently should shut up
because you're tired of the negativity.

Well, I do agree that everyone skipping along, throwing flowers in the
path, singing songs and so forth would get kind of boring, but the
relentless hate make me long for consensus, however dull it might
actually be. Kind of like wanting that happy ending, even though you
know it it's, well, the *ending*.

In the past couple of *months*, since LML's reign began, I've seen many
changes that I feel have hurt the show in a big way; I'm not the only
one that has expressed this.

Tell me something I don't know. You are simply the most prolix among
many.

In case you haven't noticed, there are several of you expressing
enjoyment, too. So what's the problem? Negative opinions shouldn't
affect your ability to enjoy if it's as brilliant as it's being touted
(yes, *that* was sarcasm!).

I think about it while I'm watching. I can't believe anyone could not
have liked the "Jack's Will" twist to the story, yet there were people
complaining about how tacked on it felt. It feels as if there is just
no pleasing some people. It's a brilliant piece of writing, and the
people here found fault with it. I could not have been one bit more
surprised at the reaction. And I don't find this a matter of opinion. I
think it is good storytelling by objective standards.

I acknowledged that this is a very recent development, starting with
the Brad storyline, which I have already conceded was poorly executed,
though I like the concept, which I know you do not. Holocaust stories
interest me inherently, and it always bothered me that soap operas were
so generic when it came to religion.

If you like that kind of thing, I fully understand why you were
interested. MarkH said he likes darkness, and I acknowledged that I
fully understand why he's liking the new Y&R then.

I *don't* like soaps to delve into things like the Holocaust. I hate
that it happened, but I don't need it shoved down my throat every so
often to remember it or how horrible it was. I can read any number of
books or watch documentaries when I want to learn more about it.

That's *just my opinion*. It affects what I find entertaining and what I
don't. You don't have to agree, and there's no right or wrong in either
opinion.

However, you seem not to like the Jack v. Gloria storyline, and I think
that's just complaining for the sake of complaining.

So if I don't like something that you like, *I* am just complaining for
the sake of complaining. My reason(s) can't *possibly* have any validity
if you don't agree. That's quite one-sided if you ask me. Maybe I should
accuse you of praising something for the sake of praising. Or maybe
you're "instigating".

And I'm just gonna stop there,

I love it when people say they're going to stop and then continue ...

because I think that is a very fine storyline they will
drag out for a good long while if they have half a brain. The new will
twist is just wonderful, and I hope they play it a hell of a lot better
than they did "Georgie Kaplan."
