I disagree there. I don't think weight is
entirely different at all.
In some cases, you're right. But, overall, speaking in generalities,
your weight is one of the few things YOU truly can control. Why do you
think being thin has so much "weight"? (woah, what a pun) IMO, it's
because it's a visible goal that should be respected because it's work.
Instead, it's vilified by so many as "Hollywood" and the country gets
bigger and fatter because it's easier that way.
Now that I've lost weight and gone from being 'just another overweight
American', to 'Hot Mom', I finally understand the power of appearance
and looks and GOOD HEALTH. Trust me, if *I* can do it, most anyone can.
Again, there are medical conditions which can hinder success. But, don't
you think society is headed in a deadly path if we don't start calling
fat what it really is...FAT? We also need to quit making excuses for it.
(Star Jones is most famous for "loving the way she look(ed).")
You'd be mortified to look on an elementary school campus today. I've
decided that part of my role in the school is to set a good example for
the kids by maintaining a healthy weight. The reward for me is more
respect and admiration, even though I'm there to keep order and dispense
discipline. There are scientific studies showing kids responding to
attractive vs. unattractive and the results are stunning. I've often
wondered if the breakdown of discipline and respect (you all see it at
yer Wal Marts and Targets) can't be traced to one's own lack of self
respect...meaning if the parent is fat, the kids won't be as inclined to
respect them.
IIRC somebody said not too long ago
that Colleen was taking some kind of
medication that made her chunky, and
she was having a hard time with it.
Without knowing reasons, it would be
really hard to say that a person is
"piggish" or can do something to control
weight gain. JMO
That comment was over the top for sure. But, the issue of being
overweight has reached epidemic proportions. And the attitude that "some
can't help it" doesn't answer for the families you see waddling out of
the stores these days with cases of cokes and bags of chips and boxes of
Hostess. I think it's a very "visual" form of child abuse, to 'enable'
your child to be overweight. Because, as much as we the adults tell the
kids it's not nice to make fun of the fat kid, they'll still do it. What
good parent sets their kid up like that??
Ravl
that's it...set your baby up for diabetes needles *and* nasty, mean
barbs the rest of their lives... (not you, Cheri...I hope you know what
I mean is to speak generally and with a strong, sometimes vilified
opinion.)
