No they didn't.
That's like saying it was Nick's fault that Sharon lost their baby (even
though it was her stupidity that sent her running across the room in
high-heeled boots not watching where she was going), or Victor's fault
that Ashley lost her baby (even though it was Ashley's stupidity to get
in the car and drive like a wreckless maniac), or any number of
unfortunate events that people have to blame someone for when it was
really their own stupidity.
John was no stranger to strokes. He had one when he was married to
Jill...it was during his recovery that they hinted at a possible romance
between John and Mamie. In the years since then, John's health has been
questionable at times, they also hinted at mysterious memory
loss/possible Alzheimers. So it isn't like John never had health
problems before this.
It isn't any more all Gloria's fault than it is all Jack's fault ... God
knows, Jack caused his dad considerable stress, too, never resisting the
temptation to go head-to-head with him about Gloria even though he knew
his father loved her.
