However, as much as a applaud your analysis and knowledge of who
writes what day, and I do respect that, I don't know who any of the
writers you listed are. Well, barely, but I never even look at the
credits and I wouldn't recognize their work if it fell on me!
But, I do appreciate that fact that you are tracking this. I love an
involved viewer.
was waiting for a certain name (Richard Culliton's) to start showing
up, and so I would just happen to notice who was the dialogue writer on
a day that I particularly liked. I haven't been keeping track
consciously. Thanks for calling me an "involved viewer" though.
You're welcome. I did mean it as a compliment. Sometimes I get
frustrated with viewers who are always quitting the show because they
don't like a particular story or actor. Fairweather fans.
There is actually a thread on the Soap Opera Network message board that
keeps track of who was the dialogue writer for every episode, though.
It's impressive! The Soap Opera Network message board also keeps track
of writers' histories -- when they were at each show.
That's amazing. Or freaky. ;-)
I guess if I were someone who's hobby, or profession, was writing, I'd
be interested in knowing these things. That makes sense. There are
all sorts of writing ngs and fanfic writers out there. They probably
watch all shows with an eye to the dialogue.
Looking at that thread I mentioned on the message board, I realized
that I had misremembered some details about who wrote which episodes.
Elizabeth Page, who I had said in my earlier post seemed to write
boring stuff, wrote some witty dialogue for Cass after the Emily
Stewart hearing last month -- and also was the writer of last
Wednesday's episode that included some scenes that I liked between Luke
and Holden.
Yes, they had a nice scene with natural, effective dialogue.
Meanwhile, it seems Susan Dansby was the dialogue writer
last Monday when Simon and Carly first got to New York and bored me to
tears with how unrelatable they were being (too much "rich people's
fantasy talk", not enough genuine conflict or emotion).
Yep, that was boring. I wouldn't have been able to put my finger on
it, but you did. Their conversations didn't ring true. How does
Simon even know her sizes? Were those all gifts? What were they in
NYC to do? See, I forgot the important plot point because I was
aggravated by the silly dialogue. When actors of this caliber can't
make it work, it's bad material.
