Today, Blackberry was forced to pay over 500 million to a "company" that
never made anything. They hold patents to things that they never made.
Incidentally, the patents are under review and are going to be
revoked. But the jury, evidently composed of people who are grads of
our school systems and, thus, can neither read, write nor think, awarded
the plaintiff 500+ million because, in their opinion, Blackberry "stole"
their email idea. Which they did not have.
Blackberry was not able to appeal because the judge ordered them to pay
the 500 million NOW or he was going to shut down Blackberry.
Once more, from the supreme court to your local court, the "legal
establishment and your friendly local Nazis" are stripping the average
person of their rights, property and moneys.
Don't you think it is about time for another revolution?
And I never, ever thought I would hear myself say that or write it.

Welcome aboard, Patricia. Our legal system is useless, joining our
educational system, health care system and, of course, our government
in general.

Suggestions for alternatives and solutions, please.
The problem is one of (a lack of) character and (an abundance of)
ignorance. We have far too many people in positions of power and
authority that haven't got the first clue how to handle either. Every
great nation/empire has crumbled from within. There comes a point of
no return in every nation's history. Oftentimes, this point comes
when that nation *appears* to be at its apex, when, in reality, the
fall is just around the corner.
You ask for solutions? What am I, freakin' Karnac the Magnificent?
If I knew how to turn crooked greed-heads and apathetic assholes into
productive citizens, I would be able to write my own ticket, would I
not? I see little hope for this nation. It's flying down the ***
chute faster than congressman can take a lobbyist's check.
There is a perfect economic, resource and political storm gathering
that will knock us off that "world's only remaining superpower"
pedestal. This nation is in debt up to its eyeballs. Our military is
stretched paper thin. We don't make anything - our manufacturing base
has been eviscerated. Other countries (China, for instance) hold our
debt and make our stuff.
Much of the vaunted economic growth has been in the housing,
construction and real estate arenas. What happens when that bubble
finally pops? And, it will pop, as it always has. All those "instant
brokers" will have to find other lines of work. The easy credit will
dry up. Lots of repos. Mortgage lenders will be in deep do-do. Lots
of tradesmen will be hitting the bricks as most of the work they do is
financed with easy money. They will be none to happy when their bread
and butter disappears. Retail will be hit hard, of course.
What happens when the continuing demands of the developing nations for
a dwindling, finite resource (oil) forces conflicts and splinters old
alliances? There is not a nation on the face of this earth that
depends on cheap energy to make its economic engine run than the
United States. What happens to us when the cheap oil runs out?
Anyone think for one nanosecond that the rest of the world will be
coming to our aid? I think not.
This country got a "wake up" call back in the seventies, but turned
away from development of alternative energy technology when the
"crisis" eased up for a season. What can we say to the next
generation when the *** hits the fan? That we didn't know? We
couldn't foresee our vulnerability? Or maybe we could simply leave
them holding the bag with a don't give a damn shrug?
There's more. Much more. Check out "Peak Oil" sometime. Google is
your friend.
David, running on empty
Wow, David, that was some tirade.
And right on the mark!
