OT- Speaking Of Aches & Pains & Health...

I think I have something going on with my kidneys right now. It's
happened in the past, with me being referred to a urologist who said my
IVP looked fine and I felt fine, so I never followed up. So, here's the
deal:
I show blood in my urine when tested. It's not visible to the eye, but a
test shows blood with no infection. My doctor the first time suspected
kidney stones. Hence, the IVP. It showed no stones.
My symptoms have flared again recently. (Very uncomfortable lower back
pain.) I made an immediate appt. after doing a home test (you can buy
them at the drug store--they test for white blood cells and Nitrite.)
and having it test positive for blood, negative for infection.
The doctor didn't seem alarmed at the amount I passed at the appt. and
suggested my back pain was induced by my exercise. While it was 'good'
news, I knew it was wrong.
I've read up on something called Interstitial Cystitis, but I don't
think that's it as I don't have that frequent urge deal. (only sometimes
when I know I have to go in the car. I *HATE* when that happens!)
My problem is definitely with the kidneys and the reason for my posting
is to see if anyone else has had the symptom of feeling fine, but a
lower back ache in kidney region with blood in the urine. If there
aren't kidney stones, what could be causing the flare up (they feel
swollen)
and blood to pass?
TIA for any feedback here.

I had the same problem with minute amounts of blood always showing up
every time my urine was tested. I finally went for a cystoscopy and
also had my kidneys x-rayed. Everything checked out fine. Do you take
a lot of pain killers? At the time, I suffered from freqent headaches,
and was taking lots of otc stuff. That's what I blame the blood in the
urine on.....just my own diagnosis here. I ended up having to have a
hysterectomy later for severe bleeding, that could not be diagnosed,
either. So I blamed that on the frequent use of pain killers, too.
They all have blood thinners in them. Who knows?
